Description

Snapping Turtle (Chelydra serpentina)

The Common Snapping Turtle is a rugged and powerful freshwater reptile with a well-earned reputation for its feisty attitude. With its large, ridged carapace, muscular limbs, and long, serpentine tail, this turtle looks more like a prehistoric beast than a pond-dweller. Its sharp, hooked beak and strong jaws can deliver a formidable bite, making it an intimidating predator. Despite their aggressive nature on land, they tend to be shy and reclusive in the water, where they spend most of their time buried in mud or lurking among vegetation.

These turtles are widespread across North America, ranging from southeastern Canada to Florida, and as far west as the Rocky Mountains. They thrive in a variety of aquatic habitats, including marshes, lakes, rivers, and slow-moving streams. Known for their remarkable adaptability, they can tolerate polluted waters better than many other turtle species.

The 3D-printable, digital files are in STL format. They’re scaled to life-size and ready for you to print and paint.

The model represents an adult Common Snapping Turtle with its characteristic rough carapace and powerful limbs. Snapping turtles can grow up to 47 cm (18.5 in) in shell length and weigh over 16 kg (35 lbs), though smaller individuals are more common.

The files are packaged in a .zip archive. If we update the files, customers who purchased a personal use license will be able to download new versions as we add them.
