Model Stand 10cm “Puddle Stand”
Display your 3D prints with style using this 10cm circular “puddle” stand! Designed with a recessed area (8cm inner diameter), it’s perfect for creating mini dioramas. Use it to showcase smaller models like frogs, or get creative by building a small aquatic scene in the recessed area with two-part epoxy to simulate water. That’s what we designed the stand for so we called it a “puddle stand”.
This stand is free to download and use—perfect for adding a polished touch to your models. The stand measures 100mm across the base with a recessed area in the middle that is 80mm diameter wide and 11mm deep.
The 3D printable, digital files are in STL format, ready for you to print and paint them.
The files are packaged in a .zip archive for easy organization and download.
Our tested print settings: FDM
We successfully printed the this stand in PLA on an FDM printer using these settings:
- Nozzle size: 0.4mm
- Layer height: 0.12
- Wall thickness: 1.2mm
- Infill: 5% lines
- Support material: false
We oriented the stand upright with the bottom flat against the build plate.
Here are some process photos of a puddle stand in varying stages of completion. We created a realistic diorama by using spackling compound and pressing various pieces of found debris (leaves, sticks, sand, rocks) into the spackling while it was still soft. Once it was dry, we painted it to look like mud, glued our model in place, and then poured in our premixed two-part epoxy into the stand. Finally, we used a small torch lighter to pop any bubbles that were still in the epoxy before patiently waiting for the epoxy to cure.
