Description

Spotted Turtle (Clemmys guttata) 3D-printable files

The Spotted Turtle is a small, semi-aquatic turtle with a distinctive appearance. It features a dark carapace adorned with yellow spots, creating a striking contrast that makes it one of the most easily recognized turtles in North America. This species rarely attains a carapace length of more than 13cm.

Spotted Turtles are found in shallow wetlands, marshes, and slow-moving streams across the northeastern United States and parts of Canada. Unfortunately, habitat loss, pollution, and illegal collection have led to their decline, resulting in their classification as an endangered species in many regions. These turtles have a slow reproductive rate, and with their already fragmented habitats shrinking further, the challenges they face grow more severe each year. Their endangered status underscores the critical need for conservation efforts to protect these unique reptiles and their natural environments.

Our Spotted Turtle model is available in STL format, ready for you to print and paint. The files are packaged in a .zip archive for easy organization and distribution. The model is scaled to life size with a carapace length of 12cm.

Our print settings: Resin

We have successfully printed this Spotted Turtle model in grey resin on an LCD 3D printer using these settings:

  • Layer height: 0.05mm
  • Hollowed: True
    • Wall thickness: 2mm
    • Infill: 10%
    • 3-5mm drainage holes in the plastron and on the shell where they can be easily filled.

Feel free to use these settings as a guide or use your own preferred settings. They’re just the settings that we use when printing.

This is a fairly large model for a resin printer but its also very small and detailed for a FDM printer. If it’s too large for your resin printer, we recommend you reduce the size to fit. We printed it in full size on an Anycubic Photon Mono M5s.
