Jefferson Salamander / Blue Spotted Salamander (Ambystoma jeffersonianum/laterale)
Discover our 3D-printable Jefferson/Blue Spotted Salamander. The Jefferson Salamander and Blue Spotted Salamander are indistinguishable from each other where their ranges overlap. Furthermore, the two species can hybridize with each other, making identification even more impossible without the use of genetic analysis. This captivating model offers a wonderful visual representation of these remarkable species, showcasing their intriguing complexity.
These elusive amphibians are characterized by sleek, slender bodies with a range of dark earthy colors that span from dark gray to black with rows of vibrant silvery blue flecks that adorn their sides and and some cases, their entire bodies. These azure spots create a striking contrast against their dark background, making them a visual delight for those lucky enough to spot them in their natural habitat.
Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a biology student, or someone who simply admires the intricacies of the natural world, this 3D-printable model offers an excellent opportunity to proudly showcase your appreciation for these interesting species.
The 3D printable, digital files are in STL format. We provide two different poses, one more coiled up and one more stretched out. They’re scaled to life-size and ready for you to print and paint them.
This salamander is 17.5cm long, which is a little on the large side for these species. Their size ranges from 10 to 18cm long so if you want to print an average sized one: print the model at 78% scale.
The STL files are packaged in a .zip archive for ease of file-organization and download.
